For several weeks prior to the start of the fall semester, students arriving at Montreal-Trudeau Airport can consult staff at two reception booths (Accueil Plus). Their role is to provide information to new arrivals and respond to immediate concerns, such as transport to ESG and temporary accommodations in Montreal. This reception service is organized by the universities and colleges in the Montreal region, in collaboration with the Conference of Rectors and Principals of Quebec Universities (CREPUQ) and the Conférence régionale des élus (CRÉ) of Montreal.

There are two university residences, with a total of 927-bed capacity, located on the UQAM campus. Students wishing to reserve a room must contact the University Residences upon obtaining the letter of admission from UQAM.
Several establishments near UQAM offer reasonably priced lodging on a temporary basis. However, it would be advisable to make a reservation as soon as the date of arrival is known.
