Student Application

The preparation of the application is a critical stage in becoming an exchange student at ESG. Given the complexity of the details involved in completing the application, we ask you to consider the following. Generally, in early March of each year, the ESG International Office receives from its partners a list of student nominations for the coming year in order to reserve spots for them.

Documents Required for the Application

  • A copy of the student’s individual record of civil status or birth certificate (a requirement of the Government of Quebec);
  • The ESG Candidacy for an Exchange form (in french only) completed online and printed;
  • The signed UQAM Demande d’admission form (in french only). All fields except the section « Admission demandée » must be filled in;
  • An official transcript of all recognized credit courses completed to date in the student’s current program;
  • A list of the courses in which the student is enrolled in the two terms preceding the arrival at ESG.
  • The projected course selection for the student’s term(s) at ESG :
    • At the undergraduate (Bachelor’s) level, a full-time student must take a minimum of 4 courses (12 credits) per semester, the normal workload being 5 courses (15 credits).
    • At the graduate level, the minimum number of courses (credits) required for full-time enrolment varies by program.
  • Proof of proficiency in French or English, depending on the language of instruction of the courses selected by the student:
    • The student’s spoken and written English must be at an intermediate level. This level of proficiency corresponds to the following scores (given here for illustration purposes):
      TOEIC : 750 +;
      TOEFL (Paper) : 550 +;
      TOEFL (iBT) : 80 +;
      IELTS : 6.5 +.
    • Depending on the language of instruction of the selected courses, if the main language of instruction at the home institution is not English or French, an attestation of language skills must be provided by a competent authority.

Deadlines for Receipt of Applications

Please send us your students’ application file before the following deadlines :

  • October 15, 2011 for students arriving for the winter term (one term at ESG)
  • March 31, 2012 for students arriving for the fall term (either one or two terms at ESG)

In general, letters of admission are sent from UQAM in June. Once accepted, foreign students can refer to the section Planning For Departure to continue their preparations.
